The Wild is sending a “Call of the Wild” to rally our community to assist in our effort to Build-A-Field through the refurbishment of Leetown Park in Kearneysville, WV.  There are currently 2 baseball/softball fields that are in disrepair and rarely used. The Wild is setting out to raise capital funds, alongside funding from the JCPRC, to refurbish these fields into multipurpose athletic fields, one of which can be our “home” lacrosse field.

The cost for the field deconstruction and construction of the field is anticipated to run up to $150,000. Deconstruction involves removal of light poles, fencing, dugouts, and netting as well as scraping and grading the field. Construction will then involve extending the field, seeding, adding fencing and netting, at a minimum. Eventually adding bleachers, lighting and/or a scoreboard would be ideal.  The JCPRC and Wild are looking into a variety of options, including budgetary funds, grants and fundraisers to fund this process.  Our kick-off fundraiser is a community Laxapalooza festival involving a free introductory lacrosse clinic followed by a fair-like atmosphere with fun lacrosse-themed activities, giveaways, mobile recreation and vendors. This is only the beginning of our fundraising plans for our field!
